The Examinations Council of Zambia is set to host the 10th conference of the Southern Africa Association for Educational Assessment (SAAEA) from 16th to 18th May 2016 in Lusaka. SAAEA was established primarily to provide a platform for test developers, educationists, administrators, curriculum specialists and researchers to exchange ideas and good practices of conducting educational assessment within the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) sub-region. The objectives of the Association are:
To encourage and facilitate dialogue and debate among member states and institutions concerning educational assessment issues.
To promote cooperation among educational assessment agencies within the SADC sub-region.
To provide a forum where test developers, educationists, curriculum specialists and researchers can exchange ideas and good practices on matters related to educational assessment.
The Conference theme is, “Beyond 2015: Sharing Experiences in Assessment for Quality Education,” and the sub themes are as follows:
i. Best Practices in Soft Skills Assessment
ii. Best Practices in Assessing Learners with Special Educational Needs
iii. Improving School-based Assessment in the advent of universal education
iv. The Art of Providing Feedback on Examination Results: A Strategy to Improve Learner Performance
v. The Role of Large –Scale Assessment in Monitoring the Quality of Education
vi. The Role of ICTs and E-Platforms in Educational Assessment
So far, the ECZ is on track to host the 2016 SAAEA Conference and Research Forum and is calling upon stakeholders in education and assessment in Zambia and beyond to be part of this important event in May 2o16.
